Title: light bar in the handle of my Classic Plus
Post by: nhartkline on October 15, 2015, 10:34:04 PM
The light bar (LED & blacklite combo) in the handle bar of my 2006 Classic Plus went on the fritz--only the black light working.  I ordered a replacement--got an updated LED/blacklight bar sent and tried it--same thing is still happening--only the blacklight works.  So Gammill is sending another light bar to try--but wondered if anyone else has had problems?  I'm hoping it's not a wiring issue???  And ideas?

Update on my light bar--we tried another LED light and got nothing from it.  also, my channel locks would not work unless the main light switch on.  But I was getting channel lock and laser light with that switched on.  Anyway,  Gammill is thinking now that it's the "power box" at back of machine that is dying so we're going to try that (and I'll send the 2 LED light bars back for credit).  Still able to use the machine but without that extra light and hard to work on front  of machine because of that.  Also,  my SR seems a little "off" and wonder if my power issue is related.  Does anyone know??

Success!  I received the power source "chip" from Gammill and with coaching from Ron at Merrily We Quilt Along, I got it installed with only minor fumbling.  Held my breath and plugged it back in and flipped the switch.  Yea!!! Not only did the light bar work--both black light AND white LED, and  the old one was fine and much brighter than it had ever been.  AND I swear my SR stitches were much more uniform than they had been.  So I really feel that my $40+ was a great investment.  And a big SHOUT OUT to all the Gammill techs and Ron.  I have let Ron know that next time his tech is in my area,  that it's probably time for a maintenance call as I've had my 2006 machine for 3 years and have only done the basic cleaning stuff myself.
