Genece Hoskin, born in Tennessee and raised in California, has been a quilter since 1972. Her love of quilting began when a dear friend introduced her to hand quilting when she said, “pick up that needle and use it.” Not knowing what to do, Genece obediently picked up that needle and copied the movements of her friend. Another quilter was born!
Since that time, Genece has won blue ribbons in quilt shows for her hand quilting. In an effort to complete all the quilts she has planned in her lifetime, Genece purchased a Gammill Quilting machine with a Statler Stitcher computerized quilting system in 2004. She found that the Statler most closely replicates the looks of hand quilting. By combining her love of traditional quilting and modern technology, Genece has won local, regional and national awards with her quilting. In 2007 she won an International Blue Ribbon at the Innovations Quilt Show in Tacoma, WA with her quilt, Amazing Grace, which she designed, pieced and quilted.
Genece is CS Version 6 Certified. Genece served as a Board Member for the SUGAR Organization (Statler Users Group and Representatives) and was an editor for the SUGAR Scoop newsletter.
