Quilting Tips: I always have an iron under my machine. I use mostly cotton batting and have found that this tip works great when I am floating the top of the quilt to the backing. First, run a basting stitch with your horizontal channel lock engaged. This line of stitching will be where you want the top of the quilt to start. Place the quilt top along this basted line. Press gently with a hot iron along the quilt top. The heat from the iron will cause the cotton quilt top to stick to the batting. Baste the quilt top together. Pressing the top to the batting will make it much easier to baste. Try it.
